Launched in celebration of Ardbeg Day 2023, Ardbeg Heavy Vapours is a bold experiment in smoky intensity. For the first time ever, Ardbeg has distilled without the use of its copper purifier—a key component that usually refines the spirit’s character by adding floral, fruity notes.

By removing the purifier, Dr. Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg’s Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation, has unleashed the raw, untamed "heavy vapours", resulting in a whisky that is unapologetically peaty, smoky, and powerfully unique.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Salty sea air, vanilla, crème brûlée, white chocolate, herbs, ashy lemon, macadamia nuts, and seaweed

  • Palate: Layers of ashy peat smoke, fresh vanilla, herbal tones, cut grass, and bright citrus

  • Finish: Medium to long with lingering notes of lemongrass, white pepper, and intense peaty ash
